Hi all! Does it matter what kind of bread you eat that triggers HS? Is it just white bread, or would healthy, whole grain bread like Dave’s killer bread trigger as well? It’s so painful I fear testing it out!! All responses appreciated! :)
i don't have many problems with foods but i recommend either whole grain bread or gluten free bread because then the sugar element is taken out. maybe try making your own bread it's fun and easy it… read more
Some people believe that HS is contagious skin disease or think it's some form of STD , so what information would you like to give to people about HS and about living with HS?
That it is due to uncleanness. I believe that is the reason it has been covered up for so long. People on here have had this thing for 40 years.
I’ve got an appointment to help me quit smoking coming up. Just wanted to hear others opinions on the matter. According to my dermatologist, when I questioned possible triggers, she snapped at me, “I told you this is an auto immune disorder, just stop smoking”
Now I know smoking probably doesn’t help, but I am convinced my triggers are hormonal and stress related. I do not feel heard by her, hopefully next appointment is with a different doctor

I have recently gotten diagnosed, currently breastfeeding so I am not sure if this is a trigger. Wondering if the community can share if they had to give it up all together, if certain alcohol doesn’t cause flare, or if you’re able to still drink with no changes?
Not really a problem for me. I don't drink beer. But I definitely a liquor drinker
Dr. Kimball mentioned Hormonal Treatment for HS instead of Antibiotics. Would Hormonal Treatments be recommended for older ladies or for men?
Fatima, Do not know the answer. I took Vivelle patches till age 50 after my hysterectomy. It might would help. My h.s. was not as bad while on them.
So I have a question...does HS come on your back? Some days ago I have notice what I thought was a pimple...but this is no pimple..on the middle of nyt back on the spine. It was small ..but it grew in size. No pain to it. Just sometimes feel itchy. Been putting some warm compresses on it. Can't even see it myself unless I get one of my kids to take a picture of it. My question for you is ? What is the worst part of your HS . I know the answer is all of it but what is the one. The pain, scars,mental stress, or the smell? I've noticed if I keep my hair down there trimmed up the pain and the smell aren't so bad..
