Did Quitting Smoking Help Your HS?
A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve got an appointment to help me quit smoking coming up. Just wanted to hear others opinions on the matter. According to my dermatologist, when I questioned possible triggers, she snapped at me, “I told you this is an auto immune disorder, just stop smoking
Now I know smoking probably doesn’t help, but I am convinced my triggers are hormonal and stress related. I do not feel heard by her, hopefully next appointment is with a different doctor

My primary care Dr had no idea. Always wanted to give me antibiotics. After awhile they stopped working and I was at my wits end. Thank God I found a Dr that knew exactly what it was and treated me accordingly!

I quit smoking for 4 months now and if anything it’s been worse. But I definitely recommend quitting smoking anyway. I’ve been smoking 25 years and I can tell a difference in my overall health for sure.

Hailey......I smoked for 57 yrs......although I tried quitting for about 20 yrs. I can tell you that you cannot quit til you are ready......I have tried all quitting methods, and even went to a couple courses they offer here, where they give you stuff to help you quit! Champix is how I quit, but it was the 3rd time I tried it, before it worked. One of the things that was close to making me quit was a book that's out, I think it's call How To Stop Smoking, and I believe written by Allan Carr......it gives you a total different thought process about smoking that really makes you think!
