I was diagnosed with a severe case of HS last week. I’m on oral doxycycline, topical clindamycin, and an acne wash. However I’m not and never have been a smoker or overweight. I’ve actually spent most of my adult years underweight from an eating disorder. I’m doing better now with the ED as I’ve just had a baby in September. I’m wondeting if the HS onset could be caused by hormonal birth control. I have the kyleena IUD

Hi all, I am new here and wanted to get opinions from people taking Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg daily for long term control of your HS. I am concerned about the long term use of it on my gut and all that it does & destroys within the stomach and elsewhere in the body. I was taking it daily for 6 months and it kept my flares to maybe 1 or 2 during that time. I stopped taking it about 4 or 5 months ago and all was good with HS flares. I’m in stage 2 and currently 3 months into simlandi and it is working but not fully. Just curious what others use.my doctor recommended consentyx as our next approach if needed, does anyone have experience with it? Did you find you got sick easier, contract a serous illness?
