YES! It's been life-changing for me. My derm initially told me to take 50mg/day for the first month and then up the dose to 100mg/day, but the 50mg practically cured me of all of my HS symptoms/lesions, so she told me to stick to 50mg/day. (Please note these are not typical results and that even my term -- who's an HS specialist -- was surprised at well and how quickly I responded to only 50mg/day of spiro.) I've been on 50mg/day for just over two years and it's worked out well.

I have since experienced a couple minor recurrences/breakouts (usually during the week leading up to my period), but nothing as bad as what I experienced prior to going on the spiro. My derm said I could go up to 100mg/day to try to nip it in the bud completely, but I appreciate that the drug's side effects are so minimal on my low dose. I may change my mind about that, though, if I start breaking out again.

I'm on it for liver issues and it has never had any effect on my HS

Spironolactone has made a huge positive difference for me. I’m at about 3 months now and I feel very close to remission. Since starting Spironolactone, I did have a couple of really small flares with very little drainage. Studies have shown success for women after 3 months on the drug.

Hello! I'm currently on Spironolactone for HS. I don't know how helpful my case would be for you though, because I've been on Humira for a few years, and just added the Spironolactone in the last year.

It's hard to tell where one treatment ends and the other begins, so I can't tell if it's really working or not, but I recently went up on the dosage... I don't think I was on a high enough dose.

I've had HS for 10+ years now, and the Humira was the only thing that showed a major improvement at all. Now that has leveled off and that's why I'm trying the Spironolactone.
