Hey! I am on month 9 of Bimzelx. In the beginning I didn’t notice any changes. I just started noticing a difference now. Still get flare ups but they don’t last as long. Have slight side effects but are manageable. Tried everything from low dose oral antibiotics to topical antibiotics. This is the first time in years I haven’t had a constant flare.

- Secukinumab (Cosentyx) One myHSteam member shared that after about five months on a biologic, their flares went from happening several times a week down to about once a month — a huge improvement in their quality of life.
It's worth noting that because biologics work by adjusting the immune system, they can make you more susceptible to infections. Some important things to keep in mind:
- Get an annual flu shot — but avoid live virus vaccines like the nasal spray flu vaccine
- Let your doctor know right away if you develop a fever or flu-like symptoms while on a biologic
- Stay up to date on COVID-19 vaccines, which are safe for people on biologics
Talking to your dermatologist is the best way to find out if a biologic might be a good fit for managing your HS.
