my first surgery was a deroofing and it was very helpful and i just had my second surgery and it has helped a lot especially in my problem armpit. it's not a cure but it can help close the skin and help you actually heal. my problem armpit had the deroofing and i haven't had any bad flare-ups in that armpit and i got the second one to close the bad armpit and the other one and it's been great not much on the flare-up side except for what was there previously that my surgeon opened so they could drain and close. all in all a great investment into my health. idk how much it cost cuz i have really good insurance for chronic health conditions so i didn't pay a dime.

The first procedure, Deroofing, sounds like something that can cure it for good. Do you know the cost of that?

It sounds like you're considering surgical options for your hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) after trying various treatments. Here are some insights based on the context provided:
Surgical Options for HS:
1. Deroofing (Unroofing):
- Procedure: Minimally invasive, involves removing the "roof" of the tunnel and scraping out the tissue inside.
- Benefits: Often preferred for early-stage lesions and offers better outcomes than incision and drainage (I&D).
- Healing: Generally successful in preventing HS lesions from returning.
2. Excision:
- Procedure: Involves removing larger areas of skin and subcutaneous tissue, often going deeper than deroofing.
- Benefits: Suitable for severe cases with extensive lesions and scarring.
- Healing: Can be performed with local or general anesthesia, depending on the size and patient preference.
Considerations:
- Consultation: Discuss with your surgeon the best option for your specific condition, including the risks and expected outcomes.
- Healing: Both procedures have different healing processes and potential for scarring, so consider what aligns best with your needs and lifestyle.
Next Steps:
- Follow-Up: Schedule a consultation with the recommended surgeon to discuss these options in detail.
- Preparation: Prepare any questions or concerns you have about the procedures, recovery time, and long-term management of HS.
I hope this helps, and I wish you the best in finding relief from your symptoms!
