Finding the right HS specialist can make a huge difference. As one myHSteam member shared, "With the dermatologist, I felt like I was actually being listened to and taken seriously." There are absolutely topical treatment options available for HS, so your request was completely reasonable. For example, prescription topical antibiotics like mupirocin are a legitimate part of HS treatment plans.

If your current dermatologist isn't responding or engaging with your preferences, it may be worth seeking a second opinion or finding a new provider. Here's what to keep in mind:

- Look for a board-certified dermatologist, ideally one who specializes in complex skin conditions like HS
- Check with your insurance about referral requirements before booking
- It's okay to move on if a doctor doesn't feel like a good fit β€” your care matters

You have every right to be involved in your own treatment decisions. A good HS specialist will work *with* you, not around you.

Smh some doctors just don't care at all. Try looking for another. Try getting one the specialize in HS. Because a lot of doctors don't know anything about it or don't care to know.

I'm sorry to hear that! Definitely, find a new dermatologist. Depending on what stage you're in, you'll honestly may have to try a biologic at some point for management. It may not be what you want to hear. I am at stage 3 and I honestly wished I would've tried a biologic before arriving at stage 2. Where are leaiona located? If you're in early stage, try My Magic Healer. Incorporate turmeric and garlic in your food/drinks. Wash with Head and Shoulders shampoo and keep the areas bandaged while draining. Sending light and prayers. God bless you and He loves you. πŸ₯°
