Keep us updated on the Spironolactone, it was a game changer for me on stopping the flare ups ๐
Iโm hoping it helps with the flare ups. I use to only get them under my arms but now I get them on my butt and some are close to the groin. I was already taking birth control so I hope that helps with some of the side effects as well.
I was put on 100mg of Spironolactone daily in 2025. My labs have been excellent, even though I take a daily vitamin. I do avoid foods with excessive amounts of Potassium which isn't fun because I love some of those. Since being put on the medication, I have had one flare up under my arm and it didn't get nearly as bad as it would previously. Once I was put on it by the ER doctor because she finally recognized my symptoms instead of just treating and streeting me, my tunneled abcesses cleared up and the area under my arm slowly healed. As an added benefit my acne that I have dealt with well into my 40s cleared up. I hardly ever get a pimple or oil bump on my face anymore. It's been a miracle in my life. Now if I could just find a product that hides acne scars on your chin I would be absolutely thrilled. I am so self conscious about those.
It's completely understandable to feel nervous โ starting a new medication can feel like a big step. The good news is that in studies specifically looking at spironolactone for HS, relatively few side effects were actually reported by participants.
