I’ve been treating a HS flare up. I was able to get two bumps to go down and almost go away. But now one of the smaller bumps I had is Starting to get bigger. I’m not understanding how this one is growing when I’ve been treating the same area for two weeks. I’ve been applying heat, using Clindamycin and cleaning with Hibiclens. I just started cleaning with PanOxyl to see if that helps. I’m not really sure if I should be doing anything so the bump doesn’t get any bigger. I couldn’t get into my… read more

Here are a few additional things that may help while you wait for your dermatologist appointment: - Avoid picking, popping, or squeezing the bump — as tempting as it is, this can introduce bacteria, worsen inflammation, delay healing, and cause scarring
- Wear loose, breathable clothing (like cotton) over the area to reduce friction and moisture buildup
- Keep the area bandaged to protect it from outside exposure and to hold any topical medication in place
- Try cool compresses as an alternative to heat — some people find cold works better for pain and swelling
- Over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help manage pain and inflammation in the meantime One important caution — if you develop fever, headache, or fatigue alongside the worsening bump, that could signal an infection and you should contact your doctor sooner rather than waiting for your July appointment.

It's also worth calling your dermatologist's office to let them know the bump is growing. They may be able to move up your appointment or advise you over the phone.
