Sometimes the wash is very strong so my doctor recommends every other day or a couple of time a week. On opposite days the only soap i can use that doesn't irritate my hyperactive skin is dove sensitive skin. Every thing else triggers flares or causes my skin to rip open more.

Okay thanks for letting me know that I can ask my derm to see if it's something they recommend I use. If you have any questions for me. Feel free to ask anytime. Thanks again.

What skin care options are safe for highly sensitive skin with hidradenitis suppurativa?

When you have sensitive skin with HS, choosing the right products is crucial. Here are some gentle options that may help:

For Daily Cleansing:
* Use soap-free antiseptic cleansers with benzoyl peroxide or chlorhexidine 4 percent
* Avoid loofahs, washcloths, or other irritating materials
* Pat dry instead of rubbing your skin

For Moisturizing:
* Look for fragrance-free, alcohol-free products
* Try moisturizers with aloe vera for anti-inflammatory benefits
* Petroleum jelly is also a good, gentle option
* Consider cooling your moisturizer in the refrigerator for extra relief

For Deodorant:
* Choose natural deodorants that won't clog pores
* Avoid products with alcohol, parabens, baking soda, dyes, or fragrances
* Look for "fragrance-free" options specifically
* Some members find solid sticks work better than roll-ons or gels Additional Soothing Options:
* Take lukewarm baths (not hot) for up to 10 minutes
* Try colloidal oatmeal baths for itchy skin
* Use warm compresses with a clean washcloth for 10 minutes to reduce pain
* Products with cooling agents like menthol or calamine may help

Important Cautions:
* Always read ingredient labels carefully
* Avoid products with dyes, added fragrances, exfoliating acids, and parabens
* Do a patch test on a small area before using any new product
* If you notice irritation or new nodules forming, stop using the product immediately

Talk to your dermatologist about what's safe and effective for your specific situation. What works for one person may not work for you.

Absolutely! A bar of white Dove soap is my only other go to when I'm taking a break from antibacterial soaps.
