Be careful of the PanOxyl, it will take the color out of your towels, bathmat, and clothes. Must make sure it is thoroughly washed of or you will see spots on any material it touches.

What body wash brands help reduce pain and swelling from hidradenitis suppurativa?

For pain and swelling relief, antiseptic body washes can help manage HS symptoms. Look for products containing these key ingredients:

- Benzoyl peroxide (like PanOxyl)
- Chlorhexidine (like Hibiclens)
- Zinc pyrithione

These antimicrobial cleansers work by reducing bacteria on your skin, which can help prevent flare-ups and reduce inflammation. Start by using them once per week to test how your skin tolerates them, as they can be drying. If your skin responds well, you can move to daily use.

Some myHSteam members have had success with specific brands. One member recommended Dr. Organic Bioactive Aloe Vera Body Wash, saying it "stopped the itching that drives you crazy." Another member found Dial Gold antibacterial soap helpful.

When using antiseptic washes, leave the product on your skin for a few minutes before rinsing for maximum effectiveness.

Remember to avoid body washes with harsh chemicals, fragrances, dyes, exfoliators, parabens, or rubbing alcohol, as these can irritate your sensitive skin and potentially worsen symptoms. Always talk to your dermatologist before trying new products to ensure they're right for your specific situation.
