I have found it to be really effective. I only had mild stage one but it’s really thinned out the hair growth, and since having it I get far less irritation in places I once had a spot.

Yes! Laser hair removal can be an effective treatment option for mild to moderate HS (Hurley stages 1 and 2). While it doesn't cure HS, it can help reduce flare-ups by:
• Decreasing hair follicles
• Reducing bacteria
• Lowering sebum production
The treatment works by targeting hair follicles with intense light beams, which is relevant since clogged follicles play a key role in HS development. There are several types of lasers used for HS treatment:
• Carbon dioxide laser - effective for Hurley stages 1 and 2
• Long-pulse Nd:YAG laser - better for darker skin tones
• Intense pulsed light - uses varying wavelengths
A myHSteam member shared that while the healing process can be painful, the treatment successfully removed most of their armpit hair follicles. Common side effects include temporary discomfort, redness, and swelling, which typically last 1-3 days. Important considerations:
• Best results are seen in people with light skin and dark hair
• Multiple sessions are usually needed
• Results aren't permanent - hair regrows in months to years, but typically thinner
• Should only be done by a board-certified dermatologist experienced with HS
• Avoid at-home laser treatments as they can cause burns and worsen HS
