I have started using Hibiclens, every day and when I have a flare I use my magic healer too. It helps with the pain.
I use Dial Antibacterial AND Hibiclens daily. It helps somewhat. I have a flare up every month regardless that is contained to the same spot every time. I have used a Preparation H which seems to help the swelling. I use Dove Sensitive Deoderant and haven't had an outbreak in my armpits since. Well, not since the surgery to remove the lesions that is and it has been 3 years.
for soap really any antibacterial soap will work i use hibaclense but i know many use the dial antibacterial soap. as for deodorant i haven't used it in about 3 years cuz my armpit flares are too bad so i just put abd pads on and spry my clothes with perfume. with ointment i use a&d ointment and habe been healing very nicely as an added bounce it has a tea tree or eucalyptus smell so it makes good for helping mask the HS smell.
