I also have pcos. I was having unwanted hair growth. My Hs flare ups were out of wack all of a sudden prior to miscarriage but now that my hormone levels are down, my flare ups have lessened. Just wanted to know if this was a common thing.

I went through a bad flare up at the end of my last pregnancy....I had a golf ball size cyst on my labia that hurt so much! It actually opened and drained on its own a few days after birth.

Yes, experiencing changes in HS symptoms during pregnancy is very common. Research shows that about two-thirds of people with HS experience changes in their symptoms during pregnancy - with roughly equal numbers reporting either worsening or improvement. In one large study, about 34% of people reported worse symptoms during pregnancy, while 37% actually saw improvements. Many myHSteam members have shared similar experiences with varying symptoms during pregnancy. Some found their symptoms became significantly worse, while others experienced fewer flares. The connection between hormones and HS flares is well-documented, which explains why symptoms often change with hormonal fluctuations. When hormone levels stabilize after pregnancy, many people notice changes in their flare patterns, similar to your experience.
