Hi everyone, does anyone else get itching in spots that are not flaring? It’s been a few days and it’s awful. What do you do to get rid of it??

Hi Ashley. Yes, it's usually when a flare is coming or trying to come. I'm on Humira so it's according to when the flare is trying to come, (if close to injection time) the Humira blocks it. 🙂

What causes itching in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS)?

Itching in HS is not fully understood, but it's believed to be partly due to the release of histamine from mast cells in the affected areas, such as nodules, abscesses, and surrounding skin. This release can cause itching and other allergic symptoms. Additionally, the formation of scars from HS can lead to nerve irritation, which might also contribute to the sensation of itchiness. Areas like the armpits, groin, and thighs are typically the most affected. Always consult with your healthcare provider before trying new treatments for itch relief.
