Has anyone tattooed over their scars? If so how'd it go?

I was wondering if anyone covered the scarring left behind with some ink. And if it did more harm than good. Or if you get another flare up in that spot does it mess up the tattoo bad needing you to get it touched up?

Not exactly the same but I got a tattoo over my pilonidal sinus scarring, got rid of it with surgery many years ago so not had trouble with it since. No complications for me and I love my tattoo
