I think I have mentioned this before but, even though my flare is over, Thank God, seeing photos of my scars send me into total terror and Depression. I can't even focus on the fact that the flare is over. All I see are ugly scars on my back side and groin area. It really affects me and no, it's not a vanity thing. I think Im traumatized by it all. I was just wondering how everyone deals with the scars and if they affect you like they do me? I really hope they do not.

Members connected over the emotional weight of hidrotis suppurativa scars, with many describing the trauma and fear they experience when looking at their own bodies, agreeing it goes far beyond vanity. Several members shared coping strategies, including accepting scars as part of their journey, praying for peace and relief from stress (which many identified as a trigger for flares), and considering medical options like tunnel removal surgery or biologic injections, though concerns about side effects were acknowledged. A recurring theme was the importance of faith, self-compassion, and finding ways to reduce stress while navigating both active flares and the lasting marks they leave behind.

There is surgery to remove the tunnels or a Biological shot if your H.S. is bad . You have to find your happy place , I pray ... I am on New medication and it works, I have stage 3, I have spent over 200 days in the Hospital.

You are welcome @A myHSteam Member. I do believe stress is a trigger of some sort. The less stress I have the less out breaks I have. I am sorry about the loss of your brother I know that must be hard especially if you are close. Prayers of comfort for you today. God does want us to ask him for help and relief. May you have a Blessed day.

I am still scarred really bad in places. I wish I could have surgery or something to clean them up, but there is nothing that I know of and I am afraid to put any cream or gel on it as it might lead to infections. I have come to the conclusion that they are a part of me. I know that is odd to say, but true. I was overwhelmed for so long with this stuff that it did control me. Finally, I just said OK Lord if I am going to have this, please let me learn to deal with it. From that moment I felt less pressure and less stress and just took it as it was. Easier said than done I know but it is true. I do think over time my scars seem to have improved that all may be in my head, but I am at ease with that thought. I hope that someday maybe they can get the star trek equipment that rebuilds our skin and it will all be better. I wish you well
