Can Anyone Kindly Share Any Positive/negative Feedback After Taking HUMIRA Injections?
A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

Hello members, I hope you are doing well and in good spirits. This is my first day in this community. I have a mild-to-moderate case of HS and usually take oral antibiotics or have had minor incisions or drainage. But I am scheduled to have my very first HUMIRA injection on Aug 30. I am wondering if anyone can shed light on HUMIRA. Successes on efficacy? I am weary and have mixed emotions because I have read feedbacks from HUMIRA site and some are very good but also have seen information that… read more

Sharing some tips and suggestions if I may.

#1) Drastically cut down in sugar intake, go as natural and healthy as you can. TRUST ME ON THIS.
sugar, dairy, brewer’s yeast, SUPER TRIGGER HS. Cut down in any refined sugar, if I have cravings for sweets I eat berries with a tinge of pure honey (optional) or no honey at all.
Try to avoid rice and any bread as carbohydrates turn into sugar as well.

#2 I do not use perfumes, powder (talc or cornstarch), and most especially I have stopped using ANY kind of deodorant.

#3) Stay in cool places most of the day, when outdoors avoid staying under the sun or outdoor when humidity is high. - the worse enemy of HS is stress & heat/sweat/rubbing

#4) I have stopped wearing leggings cropped bras ANYTHING TIGHT/CLOSE TO THE SKIN is a big no no for me and this has tremendously changed my life

#5) If anything is close to my armpit, groin, chest...I make sure to wear undergarments and clothing that are not hugging my skin tightly and must be at least 80-100% cotton.

or For clothing Rayon, Linen, Modal works too...I stay away from high percentage synthetic materials because these fabrics don't breathe.

#6) Use a phone type shower head which you can detach from the wall holder and direct the hot running water in the affected area for at least 3-5 minutes each area. Wipe with very very soft very clean cloth. DO NOT RUB as that aggravates HS. I also use DYNA-HEX antibacterial liquid wash for washing affected area alternatively. like every other day. Do not use harsh strong soaps.

7) I haven’t tried any of these products but came across is the other day, see if it helps you.

most especially have stopped using ANY kind of deodorant I just put an unscented soft tissue in my armpit and groin area on hot humid days and remove it and replace it with new ones to absorb my perspiration and also to avoid the skin to keep rubbing. I do not do this when sleeping only when I am moving about and get sweaty.
