I had noticed some hip pain over the last few years. Not bad, but annoying at times. In January this year I had a HS flare up for the first time in 35 years. It took my hip pain to a 10. Waking every night 3-4 times with immense hip pain. After having the lesion opened I finally healed mid March. Still the hip pain continued at a lower level… maybe a 4. I went to an Orthopedic surgeon and he didn’t seem concerned. He knew nothing of HS so of course he saw no connection. I got a steroid shot and finally pain is down. I am on a fact finding journey to understand HS and see correlation. Thank you for answering my question.
Interesting, my hip joins have really been bothersome 😫
Hip pain with HS is something others have experienced, and there's actually a recognized connection worth knowing about.
HS is linked to a condition called axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), which affects the joints connecting the pelvis to the lower spine. Both conditions involve an overactive immune system causing excess Show Full Answer
Yes! I was having a bit hip pain. I didn't think much of it, applied heat and at this time was working remotely due to severe HS flare ups and pain. About 3 mo the water, woke up and could barely put my foot down to walk. I went to ER, xray was taken and found out sever arthritis and am now bone on bone. I lost insurance for a few months. I gained insurance went to Dr and was advised to take steroid shots! I'm like how did I get here so fast!? Apparently, with HS, rheumatoid arthritis, and joint inflammation is associated with this. My doctor even said, wed need to have a conversation about hip replacement. All this from HS, ehich caused limited mobility, weight gain, that kead to hip pain. I advise anyone to not take aches and pains as something to "just deal with". Get it checked out right away. I also advise look up physical therapy moves for hip and lower back pain. I was a side sleeper for many years and I didn't always place a pillow between my knees when sleeping. This alone makes a difference! Drink gren tea with turmeric, pinch of black salt, and real honey for inflammation! Thank me later. God bless and stay hopeful.
