It is the worse. I've been dealing with one on my labia for over a year. Somethings I wish and should've done: dry area as much as possible and apply a protectant barrier like A&D ointment, bacitrin. What helped alot is after shower, lay with legs apart if possible. At night is a good time to "air out". And keep covered. The best cause is the roll because it's the softest and cause less friction. Take vitamin E, drink cranberry or cherry juice with aloe vera juice. When youre able to air out, you can even apply organic honey. I hope anybody this helps. God bless!

This is a life long condition which is something to keep in mind when taking antibiotics. I was diagnosed with HS at 16 and now I'm 54. I have not taken antibiotics for many years because if I need them for something more severe I don't want antibiotic resistant.
I've taken all kinds of meds, and many different procedures. My groin "exploded" with cysts during my 1st pregnancy. 12+ inner thighs for a beginning.
I take 50mg of zinc and D-3 every day. I have more than one autoimmune but never catch so much as a cold or worse.
I pay attention to the design of my underwear, if any, as much cotton as possible but watch out for the seams, not only to not cause friction but lace and some threads. Hibiclense for affected areas. I use disposable razors for any shaving and change often. I had my favorite shaver but kept getting sores that spread because of using the same one over and over and any nicked.skin. I use Spironolactone which helps from getting in grown hairs. Just a few ideas to ponder.

Having a groin lesion that keeps cycling for over a year sounds exhausting and really frustrating — you're not alone in this experience. Many myHSteam members describe the same pattern of partial healing followed by flaring again.

Eight months on antibiotics is a long time, and it may be worth having an honest conversation with your doctor about whether they're still working for you. Antibiotic resistance is a real concern with long-term use, and studies show that a large percentage of HS lesions can become resistant to common antibiotics over time. If antibiotics aren't giving you the results you need, there are other treatment options worth discussing with your dermatologist, including:

- Biologics — medications that target inflammation and have strong safety and effectiveness records
- Deroofing/unroofing — a procedure that opens and drains tunnels under the skin
- Wide local excision — surgical removal of damaged tissue
- Laser therapy — targets lesions and may reduce recurrence

A combination of medical treatment and surgery has helped many people improve their quality of life, particularly for persistent lesions. It's really important to go back to your doctor and advocate for a treatment review. Finding the right approach can take time, but there are more options available than just antibiotics. You deserve better relief than what you're currently getting.

I stopped using creams and ointments that have a "greasy" consistency because like acne, the consistency adds oil to the sore. I was actually told to use hydrocortisone 1% because it will relieve pain and "dry out" any oily or greasy skin or sores.

I, like you, have had lesions that last for a long time. On here I saw a suggestion of adding a higher dose zinc supplement and washing with Hibiclens. Both have worked wonders for me. I was supposed to have a derooting procedure done on mine, but I canceled the appointment because (knock on wood) my symptoms have cleared up.
