How can you quit smoking when traditional methods haven't worked for you?

First, it's important to know you're not alone in this struggle. Quitting smoking with HS is incredibly challenging, especially when stress and isolation make cigarettes feel like your only comfort. Many people with HS face this same battle.

Since you've tried many standard approaches, here are some additional strategies to consider:

Talk to your healthcare team about:
- Alternative smoking cessation medications beyond Wellbutrin
- Support services specifically designed to help people quit
- Addressing the nausea issue, which may be making everything harder
- Mental health support for the depression and stress you're experiencing

For the isolation and boredom:
- Consider therapy or counseling to work through feelings of loneliness and depression
- Look into support groups (online or in-person) where you can connect with others
- Try mindfulness meditation or deep breathing exercises as alternatives when you feel the urge to smoke
- Explore creative hobbies that provide fulfillment - painting, writing, puzzles, or learning something new

Managing stress without smoking:
- Focus on what you can control in your life rather than what you can't
- Practice forgiveness toward yourself when you slip up
- Set small, realistic goals for yourself
- Keep your living space organized to reduce mental burden Why it matters for your HS:

Quitting smoking can significantly improve your HS symptoms over time. Research shows people who quit were 33% less likely to develop severe HS, with benefits appearing after about three years. Smoking makes HS treatments less effective and lowers your chances of achieving remission.

The stress and depression you're feeling are completely valid - many people use smoking to cope with emotional pain. However, medication and therapy can help treat depression alongside your efforts to quit smoking.

Please reach out to your healthcare provider about resources available to you. Quitting is difficult, but it's one of the most important steps for improving both your HS and overall health. You deserve support through this process. 💙
