Bulgaria

Greetings from Bulgaria! I was diagnosed with HS in 2018. It was controlled but because of stressful events lately in my life - this condition came back :( I am searching alternative approaches because here the doctors are prescribing antibiotics and corticosteroids mainly. Thank you for your help!

Have myo-inositol and folic acid been used as supplements for HS?

There's no specific research or evidence about myo-inositol and folic acid supplements for hidradenitis suppurativa. The search results don't mention these particular supplements in relation to HS management.

While some supplements have been explored for HS, it's important to consult with your doctor before starting any new supplements, especially since they can interact with medications like antibiotics and corticosteroids that you may be taking. Alternative approaches that myHSteam members have found helpful:

Some supplements that have limited research or anecdotal support for HS include:

* Turmeric - Has anti-inflammatory properties. A myHSteam member shared, "Turmeric seems to work really well to keep my flare-ups at bay"
* Omega-3 fatty acids - Found in fish, walnuts, and flaxseed. One member noted improvement when taking fish oil
* Vitamin D and zinc - Some small studies suggest potential benefits, though more research is needed

Dietary changes that some members report as helpful:

* Mediterranean diet
* Reducing sugar and dairy
* Eliminating processed foods
* Plant-based diets

Stress management is also crucial since you mentioned stressful events triggered your flare-up. Always work with your healthcare provider when adding supplements or making significant dietary changes.
