Try sugar waxing instead of shaving. Or consider laser epilation.
For deodorants, these are the two I'm using https://www.dm.de/balea-deo-roll-on-sensitive-p... and https://int.eucerin.com/products/deodorants-and... (or https://int.eucerin.com/products/deodorants-and...). Try to avoid antiperspirants, as they prevent sweating, and so can clog pores and cause breakouts.
Otherwise, you can always wipe your armpits with a cotton pad soaked in 70% alcohol or a 1% solution of salicylic acid (which also contains alcohol). It eliminates unpleasant odors instantly. Additionaly, salicylic acid prevents breakouts.
I notice when I dry shave my arm pits and have less chances of causing a flare up. Also I try to only do it once a month.
Hi there. Its really frustrating for sure. I've stopped using deodorant completely. I use body spray that I put on over my clothes, and if it's a really hot day and Im sweating I just do a quick rinse in the basin and follow up a wound cleaning spray. I haven't noticed smelling bad and no one has told me I have! 😂 But I do work mostly in air con so I am lucky in that aspect I guess! Definitely stay away from anything anti-perspirent though. I try not shave too often, and I always use a new razor when I do. I also don't use the same razor if I'm shaving different parts of my body if that makes sense. I've heard that using single blade razors is better, I haven't tried it yet though
What kind of deodorant can you use if you keep breaking out?
Finding the right deodorant with HS can be really frustrating, but there are some things that might help. Many myHSteam members have found success by avoiding certain irritating ingredients and choosing gentler options.
