I have also started wearing men's boxers that are for moisture and coolness. It makes a big difference because they go further down the leg and they breathe so much more than any womens underwear that I have found.

Keep a microfiber towel handy. They help with drainage when covering the wound isn't an option. Also, if you are at home, try using a pillow case or similar fabric to cover it when the would is open. Sometimes trying to cover it slows the healing or isn't possible because of the location.

Here are some helpful tips for managing dressings with HS:

• Use self-adhesive dressings or repurpose items like nursing pads for coverage and absorption
• Choose gentle wound tape, like paper tape or dressing retention tape, to minimize skin irritation
• Opt for breathable, antimicrobial materials that promote healing
• Wear light dressings and change them frequently
• Avoid tight dressings that could further irritate the skin For additional comfort and protection, consider:

• If you need breast area coverage, try bras with removable padding where you can place dressings
• Ask your doctor about getting insurance coverage for specialty wound care supplies
• Use fragrance-free cleansers when changing dressings to avoid irritation
• Make sure to replace dressings regularly to maintain good hygiene
