Hello Landon (family) your brother Lloyd here in NYC i used to exsperience the same issue. Why is my body reacting so much differently from everyone else's it's quite frustrating and emabarrassing when it becomes out of control when we don't have an actual answer to what is going on. I can give you what i did to help prevent it becoming enlarged over time, i hope this helps you and our other family members on what i'm about to say may give you a little hope and some comfort. I personally decided to write everything down after what i eat so in case there was a flare up of inflammation build up i was able to narrow it down by removing what i ate on a daily basis. Our bodies react so differently depending on the ingredients that we eat or drink whether if it's fast foods or whether it's made by us or by our significant other. The ingrediants in particular foods, fast foods or resturants can be deadly to us with H.S. Something that you may be eating can be triggering your H.S. to react irratically. So take your time and get to know what your body is trying to tell you. Listen carefully to what it's saying to you personally trying to get your attention. Take a moment and think about it and i hope this helps you. Lloyd

Hey Landon, wow you can say you are doing everything right, but that is the actual thing, like all of us we are all baffled on where did this come from ? How did we get this ? Is it a particular gene with-in our DNA it's crazy frustrating. Like you i persoanlly stopped taking my blood pressure medicine under the guidance of my PCP of course becuase it's been well controlled now. I even lost 41 pounds and still dropping it off gradually. The H.S. keeps rearing it's ugly head against us, we just keep fighting no matter how difficult it may get for each of us until there is a breakthrough. The psychological and emotional aspects of H.S. can cause more anxiety as well as the symptoms of H.S. Lloyd

I have had five huge cysts in the past. Two the size of eggs and had them removed to have two more grow in the same location. After that set was removed I have paid more attention to ingrown hairs. The fifth was under my arm. I let that one continue to grow not expecting it to get that big. Walked around with my hand on my hip because it hurt to much to put my arm down. A white sliver appeared and I pulled it which caused the sore to drain. With warm compresses it continued to drain for three days before it stopped. I think back and probably saved some pain on my part if I had it lanced, it is the only one that has scarred there. Usually I let them drain and they don't scar which is why I usually let them drain. Stitches leave scars and hair folicals are questionable. I have since learned to use Vicks Vapor Rub cream takes the sting away and helps the draining to progress.
