Wow. sorry to hear this. Can you give me more details on your process. How long did you stay in the hospital. How large was in wound. Were you able to walk, drive, work, etc. I'll be off work for 2 months but you said it took 6 months. I'm only doing the surgery because I'm so tired of the drainage. I'm having both thighs done at once and maybe the buttocks next year.

I had deroofing done on my inner thighs a couple years ago. It was very difficult and painful when healing and I had open wounds for a little over 6 months. I had to have a couple of incision/draining done during that time, as I don’t think they did a great job in the first place. Of course, I had to keep working 2 jobs during this time, so this may have cut into my healing…

Thanks for the information. I'm a little afraid, but I think this is necessary for me to do. I'm becoming depressed from the day to day living of this disease.

Yes, surgery is indeed a treatment option for managing hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) on the inner thighs, especially in moderate to severe cases. Here are some details about the types of surgical procedures and what you might expect in terms of pain and healing:

1. **Types of Surgical Procedures:**
- **Incision and Drainage of Abscesses:** This is often used for acute relief.
- **Deroofing:** This involves removing the skin covering an abscess or sinus tract.
- **Wide Excision:** This procedure removes the entire lesion or sinus tract, which may be necessary for severe cases.

2. **Pain and Healing:**
- **Pain:** Post-surgical pain is expected, but the intensity can vary. Pain management will be part of your treatment plan, often involving medications.
- **Healing Time:** Healing can vary depending on the extent of the surgery and individual factors like overall health and adherence to post-operative care. Open healing, where the wound is left to close on its own, might take longer and requires careful management to prevent infection and promote healing.

It's important to discuss all these aspects with your dermatologist or surgeon to get a tailored understanding based on your specific condition and health status. They can provide guidance on what to expect and how to manage recovery effectively.
