It's completely understandable to feel scared about undergoing surgery, especially for something as sensitive as hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) under the breasts. Surgery in this area often involves removing the affected tissue to reduce the recurrence of HS and manage symptoms. Many patients have found relief through surgical intervention, although it's important to have realistic expectations and understand that surgery is typically considered when other treatments haven't been effective.
Before deciding, it's crucial to discuss all your concerns with your surgeon, who can explain the procedure, potential risks, and what recovery might look like. This can help you feel more prepared and less anxious about the surgery. Remember, you're not alone in this, and it's okay to seek support from healthcare professionals, support groups, or others who have had similar experiences.
