I'm stage 2, recurring lesions on both sides of my groin area but my surgeon is only removing the tract on the right, (the right side is much worse than the left side) that's where I have had multiple flare ups that required lancing ×2 in three months in the ER because they were so big and painful. Currently taking Doxycycline, topical antibiotics, I'm using hibiclens also.

Many members of myHSteam have shared their experiences with surgery for hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). Here are some insights:

- Positive Outcomes: Several members report positive outcomes after surgery. For example, one member mentioned, “The surgery under my underarm went well. Had two removed, and they never came back.” Another shared, “I had the armpit surgery, and it was the best thing for me. Changed my life.”

- Recurrence: However, some members have experienced recurrence of lesions after surgery. One member noted, “I get infected masses, and they all open back up.”

- Satisfaction with Derroofing: In a study cited in the Journal of Clinical Medicine, 83 percent of treated lesions did not return after deroofing, and most people felt satisfied with the results. Additionally, 90 percent said they would recommend deroofing to others.

It's important to discuss your specific case and treatment options with your doctor to determine the best approach for you.

I just had two surgeries. They removed 2 cysts in the middle of my chest last month. I just had another surgery on my breast 1/16/2024. I still have the draining tube in my breast. I will or I hope to have it removed next month on the 12th. Couple years ago I had surgery on my butt between my butt crack. It got infection and they had to clean it out and pack it. The only thing is surgery cure it for awhile but it will come back.

I've gone through the exact same thing, I have stage 3 HS on the left and right side, upper inner thigh into my bikini line, the pain is so extremely painful, I've been taking Doxycycline for a long time on top of several other medications, and also I use everyday clindamycin typical lotion, and hibiclens. I feel your pain, and if you need to talk, I'm here.
