I just had surgery yesterday here at Mayo Clinic. I have stage 3 Hs on my right buttock. They drained and cleaned out two boils which were tunneling. Its rather painful to do the wound dressing. They have to pack i the gauze in the deep pockets. My question. If anyone has had this done how long is the recovery would you say? My wound care has to be changed twice a day. I am asking for healthcare help and tgey can only help me out with three days a week. I dont know who to ask for help. My wife… read more

Mine took about a month to be manageable but close to a year to fully heal.

Danny my heart goes out to you. Careful not to let it get infected. Get yourself along wall mirror and hand mirrors. It helps, for the dressing changes.

Wow, prayers out to you. It’s frustrating, I had a skin graft done which isn’t painful. They cut the wound and then take skin from a different area and fill it in. Never had anything but that. The wound vac is a headache. Mine are on my buttocks and groin so sitting down would disconnect the machine. Mind you this machine went with you 24/7. It was really a hassle. The wound vac sped up the recovery. My nurse was 3 days a week. I believe it took 3 weeks.
