I've Ordered Some Manuka Honey (MGO 525+) - Has Anybody Got Good Experiences With This?
A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

I am so sick of living with this condition, constantly have some sort of a flare going on and am willing to try anything at this point!

The 'flares' are usually so much worse around the time of menstruation, do you think if I applied this Makuka Honey for a week while I'm on my period it would help stop a flare or at least calm it down?

Is it best to apply the honey directly to the skin or to a dressing before applying?

Hi Rach, humira is approved in the uk so your derm will let you know if you meet the criteria but depending on the severity there are other things you can try before biologics such as humira. You can apply the Manila honey directly on and then add a dressing. You could also consider stopping your periods through contraception if hs is much worse around your cycle. You can speak to your Derm or Gp about approaches related to hormones. Hope the appointment goes well. We also have the hs support network in the uk which is people with hs meeting monthly, virtually to learn more and support each other. Best of luck x

Thank you! I'm seeing the dermatologist on Saturday so will ask about Himura! I'm not sure if this is approved in the UK though and I don't like the sound of the potential side effects to be honest, but willing to give anything a go at this point! The Manuka Honey seemed to work, I put on plaster and covered cyst 24 hours ago and just taken it off and it's popped, so much relief lol! So glad you found something that works for you 😊

Personally, working with straight honey was too messy. I'm on Humira now, but if I was going to still explore the Manuka route, I would get the infused bandages which I've heard have good results. But, if you're able, do yourself a favor a get on Humira. It's been a game-changer and Godsend.
