I’m on Dox - great results!

I'm Floridian and used to the sun, so I didn't have such a terrible experience in the sunshine, but you northerners! 😉 Y'all are like vampires in the sun! 😄

I took doxycycline for 5 months because I was having knee surgery. My surgeon said infection can cause problems so I needed to find a way to control my HS for surgery. So went to a dermatologist and that's what they prescribed.....start taking 2 months before surgery and 3 months after. I had a lifetime of knee pain so was thrilled.....except the doxycycline did nothing. My family Dr feels HS is similar to acne, and it is also known as acne inversa. Apparently acne is in the first layer of skin and HS is in the 2nd. Anyway the doxycycline did nothing, so I kept my mouth shut when I had surgery and the infection did not transfer! I could have been stressed from my HS and my surgery???? I think if you are stressed, nothing works! As it is, there is no cure, so I have found in my 40 yrs of HS that meds don't help at all.....they may for a little, or sometimes, but non are consistant. They seem to give you more hope than anything. People come on here all the time and ask if certain things work, but you must know that not the same things work on everyone.....we all seem to react differently. I have no active HS right now, but that's because I am on the keto diet. ..Sugar affects me....keto is no sugar and no carbs....and carbs turn to sugar when your body is processing them. As you know we are all different so the diet might not work for you, but might be worth a try....you would know in 2 weeks for sure! So many meds may or may not work, but some of the side effects are horrible that I don't even want to try them. Please check that out before you take any of them!
