How To Handle Multiple Flares At The Same Time?? I Am Miserable AND 38 Weeks Pregnant šŸ˜
A myHSteam Member asked a question šŸ’

I am in my last trimester of my pregnancy and my HS has NEVER flared this bad. I currently have 4 active flares in my groin/private area. This is my first pregnancy and itā€™s already so hard to find confidence but this is making everything worse! Any ideas for treatment are appreciated!!

I can only imagine how uncomfortable you are. My partner suffers from HS his only relief comes from being in a hot bath (he also uses Dettol) this often encourages them to draw to the surface and pop faster naturally. He was also told that dermatology could drain any big painful ones, I don't know if you have that option?.. Wishing you all the best

Yes we tried diet too. 1st we removed dairy and slowly reintroduced after 6 months no major flare ups on top of what was already present and did the same with gluten (he hates life by this point) but we did notice a big flare up after high sugar intakes (Christmas time was awful for him) so we have even switched to lacto free milk and avoid highly sugared or processed foods. It doesn't stop but the boils appearing but we have noticed they are lesser is size and fewer at a time. I go to every app with him because he's even given up speaking to specialists now his mood is soo low and they will not address it and he'll never set foot in the GP office again and I cannot blame him. Again it's only something we've noticed as a trigger for him but may be different for yourself.. I really hope you are able to find out some of your triggers so that way you can help control abit better... And I prey they do have a working treatment plan in the future.. I know alot of studies are being done in New Zealand so there's hope yet ā˜ŗļø

@A myHSteam Member YES!! Thatā€™s exactly what is happening right now. All the dr told me is itā€™s a rise in hormones. Humira is so scary! My brother-in-law was on it for 6 months for CHRONS ā€¦. Not sure how a medication for a GI issue is supposed to help something like HS. His experience with Humira was NOT GOOD at all!! I will not be getting on it so Iā€™m just hoping something else is made for help with this in the future.

@A myHSteam Member thank you so much for your words! Your partner is so lucky to have you as a support person!! My fiancĆ© definitely gets just as frustrated as I do as he has to watch me be in pain over and over. Fingers crossed and all the positive thinking towards a cure/medicine that works soon. It is so bizarre to me that there isnā€™t one that even kind of works. It feels like HS is so debilitating at times and the way they can turn us away with no help is beyond me. I canā€™t allow myself to be negative about it so Iā€™ll just be sitting here hoping for a cure soon. I think I will be trying an elimination diet Iā€™ve seen some people on here talk about after I have the baby. Has your partner tried anything like that?

I wouldn't want to take steroids pregnant or soon after personally either too scary so I'm with you.. he's due to start a retinoids treatment but it's tablets still steroids I believe, don't know how it will go so I'm nervous."there's nothing we can do"That very sentence urks me out sooo much!! It's all we heard for 10 years from doctors that and never ending antibiotics so that when he is genuinely ill they'll never work and he's was never infected (swabs proved that every time) GP'S really have no clue if they did they wouldn't tell a person who suffers from a life long debilitating skin condition that causes major depression to just go home and deal and I'm sick of them using Google for answers, I can do that myself it's insulting.. I completely lost my s**t on his behalf and demanded to be referred to dermatology and put in a major complaint. It was them who made me aware of being able to have them drained especially when they are large and painful. He was given naproxen but that's done nothing for the pain. I wish I had some better ideas for you other than soaking or maybe a hot water bottle. Our very last option is laser hair removal but it's not covered by NHS so very very pricey would mean saving for a while.
