I would imagine waxing is bad idea for a few reasons. To wax 1st of all you have to grow the hair longer. I've found keeping body hair as short as possible is best for me. Also the irritation to the hair follicle in ripping the hair out from the root won't help. And finally I think leaving the hair follicle open isn't great for us hs sufferers. I am by no means a Dr let alone a dermatologist but I've been a sufferers for 20+ years, 15 at stage 3.

I have started laser once on the groin and had to stop due to pregnancy. A dermatologist in Dominican Republic told me to use Soprano Ice laser hair removal. I was 2 months into it before I needed to stop. I noticed incredible improvement in the area. No flares until 5 months later the hair started to grow back in the area I started to have flares again. Now that I had my baby Im doing my best to start laser again in the groin and cesarean area.

Just make sure the laser is a yaz or the type that goes deeper into the hair follicle or it will be temporary, I waxed years ago. I wasn’t having HS outbreaks at the time but it caused a whole lot of ingrown hairs and a couple of them got mildly infected. So I think waxing would really be bad for HS. Waxing is painful as ever anyway, I don’t know how I ever did it in the first place.

A dermatologist can do laser hair removal, which is the best option for hair removal in my opinion. My significant other got laser treatments on his affected areas and his cysts have decreased incredibly. He still gets them but they aren't nearly as painful as they were before.
