Chafing And Pubic Hair - Any Special Underwear That Might Be Beneficial?

Chafing And Pubic Hair - Any Special Underwear That Might Be Beneficial?

I have noticed that my hidradenitis occurs any where I have both pubic hair and chafing, arm pits and groin but not beard. This makes some sense given what I know about hidradenitis, an inflammatory response at the hair follicle.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any kind of underwear that helps reduce this problem?

Specifically I am looking for men's underwear but maybe some women might find this useful as well.

If not then, since my sister is a fiber arts major maybe I'll see if she can… read more

Laser Hair Removal Very Successful For Me

Laser Hair Removal Very Successful For Me

I just wanted to share my experience with laser hair removal and see if anyone else had similar or very different experiences.

I have now gotten 5 treatments with an Nd:YAG laser on my arms a groin.

It has been extremely effective. My arm pits are in near complete remission. My groin is in near complete remission (I think this is because wasn't getting complete coverage during my earlier treatments.

Downsides : I no longer have hair to help cover up scarring (seems like a pretty obvious… read more

Immune System During Flares

Immune System During Flares

I developed a flair last week and at the same time got a terrible head cold and upset stomach that is still lingering. Anyone else get sick with other ailments at the same time as a flair? I'm wondering if my body is far more susceptible to other issues during a flair?

Going To The Beach

Going To The Beach

I have scars on my thighs and under my arms. What do you other ladies wear to the beach to cover your scars?

I find I'm most comfortable wearing a swimsuit with a little longer skirt. While it doesn't completely cover, it makes me feel a little less self conscious.

Cleansers & Ointments

Cleansers & Ointments

I haven't tried any special cleansers yet. I am going to look into purchasing something .
How is it with using Hibiclen Scrub or Cetaphil?
In the past, when I have had bad flare ups and symptoms, I have used Desitin Maximum Strength. It does help ease a bit of the discomfort. Could anyone here give me some insight on these subjects please?

I also use benzoyl peroxide wash daily. Since I've started using it I have gotten fewer, less severe flairs.

Has Anyone Else Had Problems Finding A Doctor To Listen To You So You Can Get A Diagnosis?

Has Anyone Else Had Problems Finding A Doctor To Listen To You So You Can Get A Diagnosis?

They all think they are clogged glands and things of that sort and when I tell them about my own research, they are almost immediately interested. I tell them that I have tried all of their conventional generic ointments they've prescribed. This site particularly has helped me more in leaps and bound than any doctors appointment.

Has Anyone Needed Surgery For This Before??

Has Anyone Needed Surgery For This Before??

I have had this condition since my mid twenties and I'm now 42. Back in October, I ended up with a cyst so deep I didn't realize it existed until it was too late! My fever spiked to over 103 and I went by ambulance to the hospital and they had to do a cystectomy in my groin! The infection was so bad that it had spread to my bloodstream and I was septic. This almost killed me ... Twice! I was hospitalized for two weeks and came home with an open wound that I referred to as my "flesh pocket" bc I… read more
