I have very sensitive skin and I’m allergic to the sticky on normal plasters! The sensitive/fragile ones I usually get are getting too expensive and don’t stick great under my arms! Any suggestions?
I’m in the UK too

Finding the right dressing when you have sensitive skin and adhesive allergies is a real challenge — especially under the arms where things move around a lot! Here are some options that have worked for others with HS:

Gentler Tape & Adhesive Options:
- Paper tape — much gentler on sensitive skin than standard adhesives
- Hypafix Dressing Retention Tape — described as a "sticky paper," it's commonly recommended for HS and tends to be kinder to fragile skin
- Reusable silicone tape — a myHSteam member shared it "doesn't eat my skin like other tapes"
- Coban wrap — a self-adhesive bandage wrap that doesn't require tape at all, great for upper arms Clothing-Based Solutions (no adhesive needed!):

Rather than sticking anything to your skin, placing dressings inside clothing can be a game-changer — especially under the arms.

- HidraWear — a brand specifically designed for HS, with built-in pockets and fasteners for dressings in crop tops and undergarments. It's UK-based too, so great news for you! It may also be covered by insurance/NHS, so worth asking your doctor
- Underarm sweat pads that attach across the chest — washable and can hold gauze or padding inside It's also worth speaking to your dermatologist or a wound care nurse — they can help identify dressings that suit sensitive skin and may be able to prescribe supplies, saving you money on out-of-pocket costs.
