Is vitamin E helpful in treating pain or scarring related to HS?
Vitamin E has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which means it could potentially help reduce some HS symptoms. However, research specifically on vitamin E and HS is quite limited, so there isn't enough evidence yet to say it's a proven treatment. Here's what is currently known:
- Inflammation: Because HS involves chronic inflammation around hair follicles and sweat glands, vitamin E's anti-inflammatory properties could theoretically help — but this hasn't been well studied in HS specifically
- Scarring: There is no evidence that vitamin E improves the appearance of HS-related scars
- Skin application: Some people apply vitamin E topically for moisturization, but if oily skin from sweat buildup is an issue, it may not be very helpful
It's always a good idea to check with a doctor before adding vitamin E supplements or applying new products to affected skin. They can advise on safe dosage and whether it's a good fit for a personal treatment plan.

I've found castor oil helps a little for itching when it's healing. And for under the boobs, I've been using a panty liner stuck to my bra when I know it's going to be a hot sweaty day.
