Mine kicked up a couple years ago. What can I do to remove the ingrown hairs? I know I can’t shave it so what can I do?
you can use a electric razor for a start off and a grader and clip it down but remember not to use a razor as in such because of cutting it too short and blocking the sweat gland duct
lazor can be done but its expensive or the good old way of sissors
Dealing with hair removal in sensitive areas when you have HS is genuinely tricky — you're right to want to avoid shaving. Here are some gentler alternatives worth exploring:
- Depilatory creams — these dissolve hair at the skin's surface without a blade, which reduces the risk of irritation
- Electric trimmer — trimming Show Full Answer
Scissors ✂️ or trim it with a razor but use one ☝️ that has a grader on it so it doesn’t get too close to the skin or some kind of hair remover cream etc and even laser is another option
But certainly don’t use a razor 🪒 because it’s going to cause you serious 🧐 problems because it’s going to cut it far too close to the hair folical ducts and going to create HS if it blocks it up so don’t take the risk
My dermatologist said I can shave if I use a shave gel, and to let it sit on there for a minute, then shave. That way it isn't tearing the hair out by the root, but giving you a clean cut. She also told me to use a dandruff shampoo with zinc in it to use as a body wash in the areas you get HS. I use the bare one all natural. And it smells good. But I also use the new dove bar soap, calming. Its made with oatmeal.
