It is tender and just starting.
I typically don't get acne. Didn't as a teen and rarely when I did it was different than what I have now

It's understandable to be concerned, especially when something feels different from what you've experienced before. HS most commonly appears in areas where skin rubs together — like the armpits, groin, inner thighs, buttocks, and under the breasts. The face is not a typical location for HS lesions.

That said, a tender lump that's just starting could be worth keeping a close eye on. Here are some signs that would make it worth seeking medical attention sooner rather than later:

- The bump is on or near your eye
- It grows quickly or becomes very painful
- You develop a fever or chills
- It doesn't improve within a week
- It keeps coming back in the same spot

Since you already have HS, it's a good idea to mention this new spot to your dermatologist. They can examine it and determine whether it's related to your HS or something else entirely. Early attention is always the best approach!
