For HS wounds, the type of bandage needed depends on whether you're dealing with drainage or an open wound that needs healing. For drainage, which is most common, highly absorbent materials are recommended:

• Alginate bandages (made from seaweed compound that expands with fluid)
• Foam bandages
• Abdominal (ABD) pads with gentle tape
• Feminine hygiene pads (an affordable, accessible option) For open wounds that need healing, hydrocolloid dressings might be appropriate. However, these aren't recommended for heavily draining areas as they hold fluid against the skin rather than absorbing it.

Keep in mind that insurance may cover some wound care supplies - it's worth checking with your provider about coverage options and required documentation.

I have a sesitivity to adhesive,
so I have used mepore, mepilex board light, mepilex foam, Tegaderm, or just regular non adherent gauze depending on what I am using it for : )
