I was diagnosed with mild HS in '22. I've had surgery back in '23. My face/neck are constantly breaking out, I'm wondering if if your experience HS can be in these areas as well as the typical folds of skin (butt, private, arm pits). Or is it a form of acne on top of having HS.

Yes, while HS most commonly occurs in areas like armpits, groin, and under breasts, it can affect the neck and face, though this is less common. Over 780 myHSteam members have reported experiencing HS symptoms on their neck. The symptoms in these areas are similar to other locations and can include painful lumps, blackheads (often in pairs), and tunnels under the skin that may leak. While HS typically occurs in areas with apocrine glands (like armpits and groin), neck and face HS may be more associated with hair follicles. Since facial HS can look similar to other skin conditions, it's important to have a dermatologist evaluate your symptoms to confirm whether your breakouts are HS-related or if there might be other factors involved.
