I quit about 2 months ago and my HS flare ups are actually more frequent now then they were before, probably a coincidence but it's annoying when they tell you smoking makes it worse and then you stop and it doesn't change anything, like I said it's actually worse now

I didnt get my first flare till after I quit. Most likely coincidence. Its been 18 years.
I think not having to pay for a med thats not actually helping would be more of a relief. I know I am grateful, plus being pain ridden having to get out of bed to go outside... oh no. Here in Alaska there is no smoking anywhere but smoking areas and your private home and car. You have to be 20 feet away from a public entrance or multiple family domain.
I have a neighbor who makes me sick because when its cold outside he smokes in doors and his smoke fills my room. I begged him to vape, patch or chew gum when its cold like that.
Its kind of hard to prove when your bedridden and you cant just go to another room.
I get long hospitalizations after surgery so yah that would suck.
My bandages are yellow but thankfully its not from nic drip.

I have had HS over 40 yrs, I've quit smoking for 5 yrs....no difference in my HS at all....I believe in the last 20 yrs people have found out smoking is not good for you generally and Dr's are now telling you smoking affects everything! I also believe most Dr's have been guessing how to deal with HS for years, and still are.

Smoking slows the healing process. That is why it is not recommended in people with HS

Everything says smoking affects HS, but I've had HS over 40 years, and smokes for most of that time, and when I quit, my HS was just as bad!
