So I have a bad flare that is 3 days old and the size of 2-3 quarters. The top of it is almost like dried blood color. It hasn’t popped And it’s very painful, red and a bit hard.I’m on antibiotics but at what point do I go to the ER? They never help there so I just don’t know what to do..
- The area becomes increasingly painful, warm, or swollen
- You see pus under the skin or coming from an open wound
--- I would dismiss these as they are not a sign of infection. All HS abcesses have pus and rarely contain bacteria unless a secondary infection has occurred.
You should go to the ER immediately if you experience any of these warning signs
- A spiking or persistent fever
- The infected area is large and spreading quickly
- You notice discolored streaks traveling away from the affected area
