What Advice Are You Grateful To Share With Others About HS?
Since getting officially diagnosed in 2024, I am currently experiencing the longest duration of "normalcy" between flare-ups with open wound on a recurring spot on my armpit. Long story short, I'm currently taking 150mg Spironolactone once a day, 20mg Doxycycline twice a day, exercising at least 30 minutes daily but usually 1 hour, eating fresh foods and fruit. I do my best to keep dry since sweat is a trigger so I shower immediately after exercise. I also apply Clindamycin 2-3 times per day. On days where I feel a boil growing, I use a warm compress 2-4 times per day to reduce the swelling. I hope this helps others! Stay strong!
Update: About a month ago, I added Turmeric powder to my food daily as a seasoning and started drinking Green Tea, both help to reduce inflammation. Along with eating blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries mixed with sugar free vanilla yogurt and eating other anti-inflammatory foods, I believe this has helped my bumps stay controlled.
I suggest to search the internet for anti-inflammatory foods to see what you like and incorporate them into your diet. Reduce/eliminate inflammatory foods and processed foods as much as possible.
I am extremely grateful God woke me up. I am grateful that HS is not a disease that you could die from as long as you take care of it. I am extremely grateful I have the best Dermatologist that have gotten me and still help me get through I have a team of doctors that help. I am grateful for my kids and family understanding it most of the time lbvs. And grateful for this HS site I can vent and get great ideas when I flare. Happy holidays.
I would share that you don’t have to be defined by this condition. In other words, you may have to adjust your view of things specifically how you live life (diet, exercise, take a med regimen, self-care plan, honesty with close friends/family, and yes I would say a committed walk with Jesus Christ is most important). Sometimes this can be a difficult place to get to since it’s easier to hide from and ignore HS flares and pain (I’ve been there), but it’s possible to not be ruled by it. Please open up to the idea of a comprehensive approach to managing this condition and don’t let it steal your peace. Take care ❤️
I've been dieting with keto for almost 7 months. My mom passed away in June. One of the last things she told me was to start taking better care of myself. So, I dedicated myself to keto. I was 331lbs when I started. Today, I am down to 287lbs. It's awesome, but has not stopped my outbreaks unfortunately.
