Dairy and sugar are both HUGE triggers for me. Also, caffeine.

I've noticed I have more of a flare up with dairy products. (not sure if that's an actual thing but have definitely noticed a difference with myself.)

I'm into researching and trying different things to see what works for me. So far, a heart healthy diet helps with HS. I only drink water, nothing else. My flares have been mild and manageable for the last 3 months which has been a huge relief!

Yes, certain foods and drinks can affect hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). Here are some key points:

- **Alcohol**: Drinking alcohol may contribute to HS flare-ups. It's important to be cautious with alcohol consumption, especially since it can interact with medications used to treat HS.

- **Yeast**: The yeast *Saccharomyces cerevisiae*, found in brewer’s yeast and baker’s yeast, is linked to worsening HS in some individuals. This yeast is used in beer, wine, hard cider, and many types of bread.

- **Dietary Triggers**: Foods known to potentially trigger HS flare-ups include dairy products, sugary foods, and high-fat foods. Conversely, foods high in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids might help reduce inflammation and relieve symptoms.

- **Exclusion Diets**: Diets that eliminate foods containing brewer's yeast have shown significant symptom control in some people with HS after following the diet for about three months.

It's advisable to discuss any dietary changes with a healthcare provider to ensure they are safe and potentially beneficial for managing HS.
