For managing pain associated with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), the following over-the-counter pain medications are recommended:

- **Ibuprofen**: Commonly branded as Motrin and Advil.
- **Aspirin**: Available under brands like Bayer, Excedrin, Ecotrin, and Bufferin.
- **Naproxen**: Known by brand names such as Aleve and Naprosyn.

These medications are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and help reduce fever, pain, and inflammation by inhibiting the production of chemicals that promote inflammation in the body. Always consult with your doctor before starting a new medication and follow the dosage instructions provided on the package or by your healthcare provider.

My choice of pain med that actually works from over the counter has been Alieve.
Of course it's an anti-inflammatory drug so do discuss it with your physician first!
Good luck Aquila!

I use Hibiclenz and have a prescription for muvocipin a triple antibiotic and then cover it with a sterile cotton gauze bandage. See a really good derm or HS surgeon they may help you. Take care of yourself and pick one who listens and is concerned
