I think my HS is hormona at least in part (I reallf flare before my period, which is normally every 3 weeks ::cry::). My doctor put me on spironolactone, but it’s messing up my periods so that I am bleeding every other week, and my period is insanely heavy! So, the doc wants to put me on Yaz too, but the internet says it’s not a good idea after 35

I'm on Humira which I think helps the most. There might have been a little bit of improvement after I started the birth control but really the Humira is doing the heavy lifting for me.

Thanks for responding to my question! (I just recently joined this group and this is my first time posting).
I’m curious if the birth control helps with the flares? Or are you also using other meds to help?
Levonorgestrel, the progestin in Altavera, in my experience was actually worse for my acne and flares than not taking anything at all.

I'm 36 and I'm on a birth control called Alta Vera right now. I've been on Aviane in the past but my doctor and I agreed I needed to bump up to a slightly higher estrogen pill, so that's how we ended on Alta Vera.
