HS And Arthritis
A myHSteam Member asked a question πŸ’

I have been suffering with pain in both hips he last few days... Apparently this can be linked to HS? Does anyone have experience of this? Thanks :)

Hey there Lindsey!! Very much like my friends Fatima and Angelina, I do have arthritis in most of my body and also have an auto immune disorder/condition as well.

Having to have two knee replacements in the next 6 or so months will hopefully help with arthritis.

Each knee has osteoarthritis, torn meniscuses, and torn ACL’s.

Both Fatima and Anjelina are correct, and their responses are definitely open and honest.

We need to make our wishes and needs known to our doctors and nurses, to ask questions, but to also switch doctors if the one we’re seeing ignores us, has no experience or knowledge about HS, and doesn’t listen to us.

I agree with both of my friends that arthritis and HS are connected for most people most of the time.

I hope our answers and journeys are helpful for you.

Camille, you're a Sweetheart and I'm sorry you have to deal with Arthritis on top of other medical conditions. I also have Sarcoidosis along with the Arthritis. It seems like all of the Autoimmune disorders follow each other. Be safe and be blessed πŸ™ πŸ˜€

Hello Lindsey. I have pains Everywhere! I have had Arthritis years before being diagnosed with HS. Both are Autoimmune disorders so it's possible for them to go hand and hand. Take care Sweetie πŸ˜€

@A myHSteam Member, yes I do have arthritis which was diagnosed way before hs. I've always been a walker which was/is a plus in keeping my mobility. I took a nasty fall in 2017 requiring 3 surguries which #3 for the back I am trying to avoid.
Have they suggested therapy to tighten the core muscles? That's been a life saver for me.
Best of luck my friend.

Joint pain here too and one research group I’m part of is looking into the links and asking patients to talk about any muscular skeletal pain when seeing the dr and for drs to be asking patients about this. I always thought it was because I sit and lie in such uncomfortable positions to ease my hs but seems there is a link so do mention to your dr x
