I have a new boil. They seem to migrate and now colonize at the top of my ass crack. Anyway, got one that's pretty tender and large. Have only seen my new dermatologist once but she said I could come in to have an injection done if I get a bad one. My thoughts are, going to see a doc is a pain in the butt, but so is this. What are anyone else's experience for this sort of treatment if I decide to have it done?

Find a dermatologist that understands HS. While there are no specific meds for HS there are biologics you can try. i would say the majority of HS suffers use home remedies that help but not a cure… read more
It’s the discomfort that stops me.
Started at 50 mg of spironolactone about 6 month ago...in those 6 months I've been bumped up twice to. I have been at 150mg for almost 3 months now and haven't seen even the slightest change except having to pee every 5 minutes lol

Hi all, I am new here and wanted to get opinions from people taking Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg daily for long term control of your HS. I am concerned about the long term use of it on my gut and all that it does & destroys within the stomach and elsewhere in the body. I was taking it daily for 6 months and it kept my flares to maybe 1 or 2 during that time. I stopped taking it about 4 or 5 months ago and all was good with HS flares. Now in the last 3 weeks or so I have had 2 flares so far.

I think mine started around 21 (35now) maybe got one flare in the armpit once a year, and was told abscesses and given antibiotics. It was manageable then

What do you guys do when you get super depressed? I have been on an emotional rollercoaster lately and it seems like the "down" days are starting to take over my life. I have been on short term disability since mid-January due to a bad flare and it has been rough to say the least. I am now finally able to at least sit on my butt like a normal human and I'm trying really hard to stay positive, but some days it just all seems impossible. Anybody else struggle with depression?

Hi, I'm from Devon, England and here there is limited support here for HS - I fought for over 6 years for a diagnosis (originally being told its dry skin and was prescribed moisturiser). The GP says to attend the hospital for draining with each new boil but when attending the hospital they tell me they can't do it! I self care (often sterilising something sharp and cutting the area to relieve pain from pressure) and applying dressings. My partner and family hate me doing this but it's so painful… read more

I know this is probably a weird question... HS has always affected my relationships it’s always a personal problem. I have told two people about some of my issues that are rather unsightly in my underarm. One was totally okay, but the other not so much. I’m just wondering how do you guys deal in relationships? Does it ever get more comfortable or easier?
