Humira Treatment
A myHSteam Member asked a question 💭

Is or has anyone used the humira treatment and how was the results? Drs wanted me to try it a few years back but it was super expensive even though they had programs that would help the cost and I was worried about the warning about lung issues because my family has lung problems on both sides. I would be interested in anyones results with this treatment and also how hard was it to set up the programs that help pay for it and was it still expensive in the end?? Thanks in advance for any… read more

I have been on Humira about 5 months and it does really well for me. The breakouts are few, they come and go very quick and are basically painless.

I would just be very careful and ask lots of questions. Taking Humira also made me very sick, and also now have psoriasis on palms 🤲 of hands and bottoms of feet which was caused by taking a TNF inhibitor. It reduces your immune system so that you cannot fight infections at all. I got off of it after 8 months of taking it. For some it works fine, but I was not one of the lucky ones in this case

One thing that I forgot to mention about using Humira is that it really affects your immune system. I'm now considered immunocompromised and it's no joke. I've had Covid four times. The last time (last 3 times infected) I became sick in September got better. Sick again in October. Got better. Sick again in November and I was sick for over a month. VERY sick. The doctors all agree that's urs because of the Humira. Just be informed and ask lots of questions before starting it.

I was on Humira for almost 2 years and saved $$ by going through the Abbie site for discount coupons. I stopped when I started getting bacteria infections from "normal bacteria " our bodies have but since Humira lowers our immune system, it turned it into the not-so-so fun kind. I haven't had many groin issues since but recently started breaking out in my arm pits which I haven't since being on Humira but so far emuaidmax helps. I've been off Humira for about 5 years.

I have been on Humira for several years now. My insurance wouldn't pay for it. I used the Abbvie website (Humira's maker) to apply for assistance. It was a little it of paperwork from me and my dermatologist. Once I got approved the company reminds me when its time to reorder. The good news is that Abbvie sends it to me for free!! I don't pay a dime. The bad news us it really doesn't help me that much but currently it's all there is for HS.
