Started when I was 16, diagnosed mid 20’s. Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at 41. But I’ve been “pre-diabetic” for the last 10 years.

I was about 13-14, but wasn't diagnosed until almost 31.

I was sevin I got a bump under my arm. I noticed as it healed a little black hole formed. I'm like mom. Doc said it was a cyst from heat and moisture. Years later doctor said that's a telltale sign of hs. So now age 49 I got lots of scars. :(

I was told in my early years with h.s. that it would stop after menopause. They don't know, the docs. I had a full hysterectomy in 2012, and it never stopped. I have already answered this question ❓ and this is just a comment about the menopause thing. Wishing and praying 🙏 for all on this site a cure or at least relief from this disease 👿 devil.

I had gotten what I was told was boils from a young teenager. The disease really ramped up in my 20’s and turned into stage 2 when I gained 40+ pounds and really stopped taking care of myself. I had also smoked cigarettes and weed from a teenager until I turned 32. Last March I quit cigs cold turkey and never touched them again. I have also lost 35 pounds in the last 6 months and the disease seems to be in remission for the most part. I had no other conditions that I know of that contributed to getting HS. After getting HS though has been a different story. In the last year-year and a half I have been dealing with chronic recurring inflamed lymph nodes in my groin area(my HS has always been confined to the pelvic, groin, lower back area and the crease of where my butt meets my legs.

They seem to fluctuate in size but the one has never returned to normal. I now have several swollen nodes in each side of my groin. This likely has something to do with HS,RA or both which they’re also testing me for I’m just waiting for the results of that and my tumor markers as the doctor wants to be aggressive just in case so he has also ordered more CT scans with contrast and referred me to Oncology. I do still smoke weed but I try to keep it to wax or edible form only instead of actual dry flower. It helps with the mental toll this condition takes on you and the pain at times. It also keeps my anxiety in check and doesn’t seem to bother my condition. But cigarettes and my crappy diet definitely irritated the HS.
